It is amazing how much stupidity slips through the cracks of society and is now being picked up by any old journalist keen to grab a headline or two.

In the article referenced below, the case is made that Australia, as a country, can somehow improve it’s national security merely by lowering emissions of CO2.

As in there is some direct correlation between Australia’s CO2 emissions and what will happen to the global climate over the coming decades. Ie. It doesn’t matter what all other countries do, if a mega-volcano goes off next year, if any one of 100 uncertain climate influences changes course, or even if everything goes as current alarmists predict and we have a slightly warmer climate in 30 years – even the IPCC admits that the course is set for the coming 10 or 20 years, no matter where CO2 emissions go… But, either way:

AUSTRALIA AS A COUNTRY CANNOT INFLUENCE THE GLOBAL CLIMATE ON ANY SHORT AND EVEN MEDIUM TERM TIMESCALES.

At least via reducing its already insignificant 1% contribution to global CO2 levels. Now, setting off a nuclear winter during war with China, that would certainly cool things down…

Someone might even like to explain to the author and subject of this report that, seen through a military lens, spending defence dollars and acting alone on a problem that you have absolutely no control over and on which other countries can easily change course at any time and begin actively working against your efforts (kind of like, you know, war) is peak stoopid….

But no, let’s fight the nasty CO2 even though there is zero chance of success…

KEY QUOTE:

“She said like for COVID-19, the government needed a national assessment for the best pathway out of our climate predicament that best science is telling us is impacting. Part of that should be a transitioning away from fossil fuels and net zero emissions by 2035.”
